Instagram’s New Customisable Grid: What It Means for Your Brand in 2025

Have you ever wished you could just drag and drop your Instagram posts into the perfect order? Me too! Well, Instagram has finally heard our cries. The platform is rolling out a brand-new customisable grid feature!

As a social media trainer and strategist, I’ve been waiting for this update for years. While many of us have moved on from the obsessively curated “perfect grid” aesthetic, there’s still so much value in making a great first impression. And this new feature could help you do just that.

What’s New with Instagram Grids?

On 12th June 2025, Instagram began rolling out a new edit function that allows users to rearrange the order of posts on their profile. By tapping the options button on your grid, you’ll soon be able to simply drag and drop your posts. There’s no third-party apps, and no reposting.

Why This Matters for Your Instagram Strategy

Up until now, the only way to control what appeared at the top of your feed was to pin posts. Everything else sat in chronological order, which didn’t always reflect your current campaigns, products, or focus.

With this new tool, you’ll be able to:

  • Reposition seasonal products or time-sensitive content

  • Bring bestsellers or key brand messages to the top

  • Maintain a cohesive brand aesthetic without constant reposting

This is especially useful for product-based businesses or those launching events and promotions. It gives you more flexibility to present your content in the most impactful way.

Is This a Return to the “Perfect Grid”?

Instagram seems to be nudging us back toward curated profiles. They’re even testing a new layout for Story Highlights, potentially moving them into a separate tab. That could signal that Highlights aren’t as useful for engagement as they once were, and that grid content is becoming more important again.

It’s a subtle shift, but it tells us something: your grid still matters.
