Is your social media ready for the holidays? With less than five weeks to go now until Christmas 2019, festive season is truly upon us!

It’s the perfect time to get your Instagram and other social media channels looking slick, professional and ready to sell. In this blog we explore 3 ways to get your social media ready for the holiday season.

1. Curate your feeds like your shop window

Your social media feeds should by this point be full of beautiful, festive photography and video featuring your Christmas giftlist. If you have a hero product, or a selection of holiday perfect gifts, now is the time to show them off.

Try to include pictures of your products with festive props such as holly and foliage, sparkly lights, snow or glitter, or a candy cane. Well-placed hands holding or using your products and smiling models can really help to add excitement and personality to your feeds.

We love NotonTheHighStreet’s feed which is showcasing beautiful products from its marketplace. Baubels, soft lighting and plenty of hands with red nail polish give that festive feel. The brand has also created Instagram Stories Highlights showcasing Christmas giftlists for little ones, and for decorations. This is a great way of showcasing various products in an easy to access way. Stories are getting more views than the newsfeed so it’s important to include these in your strategy.

2. Build excitement with a giveaway

Everyone loves a competition in social media! A perfect way to build awareness of a hero Christmas product is to offer it up as a prize for lucky winners. If you are appearing at a market, popup or Christmas event then offering tickets to that event is also a great prize to offer. Encourage the winners to come and meet you at the event so you can show them your products.

Example from JoandSeph’s on Instagram, offering winner tickets to the Spirit of Christmas event.

Think carefully about the mechanics of the competition; what do people need to do to enter? A follow, a like and a comment is a great way to build awareness on Instagram.

3. Partner with an influencer

Partnering with the right influencer can create some fantastic content for your brand to use on the build up to Christmas. Begin researching influencers on Instagram and sending ones you like a quick DM to see if you can send them some product ahead of December.

Brands with more budget can look at using an influencer dashboard such as Tribe, where you can brief influencers to create content and pay for the pieces you want.

We love this example of one of the UK’s top influencers AllthatisShe creating some wonderful content for TK Maxx.
